Assistance for family members

Family members of City of Tucson employees have mental health benefits available through the City's EAP - see details on the EAP tab on this page - and also through our Medical plans.

Assistance for retirees

Retirees and their family members who are enrolled in the City of Tucson Medical plans have mental health benefits available through our Medical plans.

If you are experiencing a crisis or emergency, help is available, call 911. Otherwise, the Crisis Line, (520) 622-6000, can connect you with a counselor 24/7. Please refer to our Mental Health Crisis page for resources.

Behavioral & Mental Health

City benefits offer you six free EAP visits per issue per year. Everyone in your household and your children living away from home up to age 26 can work with a counselor for support with personal or work-related issues. Visit Resources for Living to be guided to a provider who can help with your specific needs.

  • Up to six face-to-face counseling sessions per issue per year
  • Emotional support — Get anytime in-the-moment support. You can also visit with a counselor face-to-face, virtually or chat/text at no cost. Simply call us 24/7 for immediate access to a support. You can also explore your options for support by accessing the website and clicking Connect to Therapy.
  • Virtual chat & video therapy (Talkspace) — Send secure texts to your counselor, who will respond within one working day. A week of texting counts as one session. You can also meet with your counselor for virtual sessions. 
  • Daily life assistance — Call us for help finding providers for child or eldercare, household services, caregiver support and more. 
  • Legal services and financial services — Get legal and financial guidance from qualified professionals.
  • Member website — Access live and on-demand webinars, watch videos, take self-assessments and find resources and information to help with your day-to-day life.
  • Mobile app — Access free resources such as stress busters and a mood tracker.
  • Digital self-paced support — You have access to evidence-based support tools to help manage depression, anxiety, stress, substance misuse and more.
