Over the last 5 years, the City absorbed a 33% increase in Medical, Rx, and City-specific insurance claims, which allowed employees' insurance rates to remain stable. Projected costs continue to rise and are expected to exceed $115M by 2028.
To ensure the sustainability of our health benefits moving forward, your Benefits Team is beginning discussions with the Mayor and Council, our Labor Groups representatives, and you, our employee team members and retirees to review the tools that we have to achieve that sustainability.
Discussion Town Halls for current City employee team members will be held next Monday, March 27, at 9 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 6 p.m.
Each of these will be a one hour MS Teams event, like Coffee with Mike, where representatives from the City Manager's Office and the Benefits Team will provide a brief presentation and then be available to answer questions that you can submit using the Q&A function in the MS Teams event platform.
Discussion Town Halls for retirees will be held at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. next Tuesday, March 28.
The 10 a.m. town hall will be virtual in MS Teams and the 6 p.m. town hall will be in-person at Tucson City Hall, 255 W Alameda, in the first floor conference room.
