The actual donation takes ap proximately 10 minutes\, but please allow one hour for your entire appoint ment\, including registration\, a health screening and refreshments.\n\n\n Power Red: Allows eligible donors to give twice the red blood cells in one donation\, helping patients who need red blood cell transfusions. Please allow approximately 90 minutes for your appointment.\n\n\n\nHelpful Tips:\ n\n\nBefore arriving\, be sure to eat a healthy meal\, drink plenty of wat er & bring a valid form of identification. Eating iron-rich foods can also help prepare your body for donation.\n\n\nAfter donating\, Vitalant will provide refreshments to help replenish fluids & nutrients. To support a sm ooth recovery: Continue drinking plenty of water throughout the day and av oid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for the remainder of the day.\n\n\ n\nBlood Donation Leave: Did you know City employees may be eligible for u p to 2 hours of paid leave to donate blood during their scheduled work hou rs? With supervisor approval\, employees may use Blood Donation Leave (BLD L) to participate in the blood drive without using their personal leave ba lances.
